50 dahlia seeds mixed together from all sections of the farm.

Our open pollinated dahlia seeds are harvested near the end of the season where we literally walk around with a huge bowl and pluck the seed heads off every single flower and then process them all together in this mix.

Dahlias of nearly every color, size and form are included (in 2025 we did not have any Orchid or Orchette. We had at least one of everything else size/form/color wise)

Dahlias grown from seed will be a unique combination of the parent plant and the plant whose pollen helped make the seed. This means the flowers grown from seeds will be a surprise! A completely new dahlia never seen before.

Planting directions

Dahlia seedlings are very sensitive to cold weather. For best results, start seeds indoors in moist growing medium, under a humidity dome with grow lights and a heating mat set to 65-70 degrees F (18-21 C).

Be patient with your seeds - sometimes they take up to a month to germinate even in ideal circumstances. 

If they have not germinated after a month of staying in moist growing medium under a humidity dome and grow light, your heat mat may be set too high. Try unplugging the heat mat. Or cycle the heat mat on for a couple hours and off for the rest of the day. 

Plant dahlias out into the garden once they have a minimum of two sets of true leaves (not the first leaves that emerged when first sprouting) and your overnight temperatures are consistently in the 40’s(F) or higher. Just like with any seedlings, be sure to harden them off before letting them live outside full time.

Be sure to protect your baby dahlias from slugs by using an organic product like Sluggo and from bunnies but covering with netting.
