Shipping policy
Physical items purchased from our shop are processed and shipped from Washington State in the United States of America.
When will my order ship?
Plant materials sold during seasonal sales may be held and shipped at the indicated time of year. If a physical item is not available for immediate shipping, a note about the shipping timeline for that item will appear on the product listing page.
Seasonal plant sales
Live plant products such as dahlia tubers, peony roots and iris rhizomes typically have two shipping windows. Fall shipped items ship in October and November. Spring shipped items ship in April and May.
Non-seasonal items
While we strive to ship orders as quickly as possible, during high-demand times of year, items may take up to 10 days to depart. We notify you via email and the Shop App when your item has shipped and provide tracking information when applicable.
In-person pick up policies
If you have ordered a seasonal item via presale (dahlia tubers, peony roots, iris rhizomes,) we will notify you via email when you order is ready or en route to the pick up location. For pick up locations other than Poulsbo and Vancouver, WA we may provide you the cell phone number of the pick up coordinator to arrange a mutually agreeable time to collect your order.
Due to the time-sensitive nature of live plant products, we cannot offer refunds on in-person pickup orders that are not picked up.
If you cannot pick up your order, we will make every reasonable effort to work with you - including offering alternate pick-up times and locations or the opportunity to have your order shipped directly to you for a fee. If you do not respond to our attempts to coordinate an alternate pickup or pay for shipping, we will consider your order forfeited 21 days after the originally scheduled pickup date, and no refund will be issued.
How we handle out-of-stock dahlia tubers
We know how carefully dahlia growers choose what varieties to add to their gardens and how disappointing it can be for a much-anticipated tuber to not arrive.
We will never swap your ordered tubers out for another variety without asking you first.
If we are unable to fulfill your order for a specific dahlia tuber, we will reach out via email to offer your choice of a substitution or a refund. If we do not hear back from you before your order is scheduled to ship, a refund will be issued for any tubers we cannot ship.
International Shipping
Items shipped outside of the USA may incur fees, tariffs or taxes which are out of our control. It is your responsibility to be familiar with the process of receiving shipments from the United States and fees associated with doing so. All fees, taxes and tariffs are the responsibility of the purchaser.
Live plant materials will not be shipped outside of the USA. Seeds may be shipped to some countries as permitted by law.
Shipping Carriers
Most orders are shipped via USPS or UPS.
Books are shipped via USPS media mail.
Expedited shipping via Priority Mail, UPS 2nd day air or FedEx may be available on some items for an additional cost.
Physical copies of digital download products will not be mailed to you.
