Mardy Gras dahlia Fall Colors - orange with red highlights - from Creative Green Gardens

It isn’t a trick of the camera - the summer colors of the Mardy Gras dahlia really are almost fluorescent orange! Come fall, though, she mellows to a chill light orange with red-orange centers and tips. Even prettier - but almost like a completely different flower!

This small but mighty, bright orange dahlia holds up well in arrangements. It’s definitely an attention grabber!

(yes, we know that Mardi Gras the holiday is spelled with an i. Mardy Gras the dahlia variety has a y. Promise.)

Planting directions

After danger of frost has passed, plant dahlia tubers in loose, well draining soil amended with compost and a well rounded fertilizer. Tubers should be planted 2-5” deep.

Alternatively, start tubers indoors 4-5 weeks before last frost by planting in a pot with good quality potting soil. Plant outside after all danger of frost has passed.

Dahlias prefer full sun but will do well in a partial sun location as long as it is they are not crowded by taller plants.

This listing is for one dahlia tuber with one or more good eyes.

Please note that tuber sizes and shapes naturally vary from short and fat to long and skinny. Shape and size of the tuber is not an indicator of tuber quality or viability. We only send out tubers we would be happy to receive ourselves.
